A Tribute to BPLG Member Angie Lopez

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

BPLG recognizes the passing of one of our own.   Long time member, Angie Lopez passed away November 29th in Soledad, CA and services were held for her on Tuesday, December 7th.   Angie represented Spanish services for the Monterey  County Library System and was Branch head of the Soledad Branch Library.  Her passion for her work and her years of advocacy earned her the respect of the library profession and her community.

In 1993 Angie was recognized by the California State Assembly as an “Exceptional Citizen” and by the State Librarian for her contributions to the “Partnership for Change” program.  In 1998 and 1999 she was recognized as Monterey County’s Outstanding Employee of the Year.  In 2006, she was recognized and honored as the Monterey County Outstanding Woman of the Year.  In 2007, she was selected and honored as the Soledad-Mission Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.

Angie was proud of her membership in BPLG, and we are proud of how well she represented our organization and hope that we can live up to her example.  She will be missed by her friends and colleagues.
