Join the crowd at San José State on March 5th for light refreshments, a book talk and cultura! Maylei Blackwell Assistant Professor, Department of Chicano/a Studies and Women’s Studies at UCLA will discuss her book ¡Chicana Power! : Contested Histories of Feminism in the Chicano Movement in the Cultural Heritage Center on the 5th floor of the MLK Library on campus. This is the first book-length study of women’s involvement in the Chicano Movement of the late 1960s and 1970s. If you were there at the time, and even if you weren’t, it will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about and discuss the struggles over gender and sexuality within the Chicano Movement.
