Knowledge River Accepting Applications for Cohort 11: Deadline March 1, 2012

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

The Knowledge River (KR) will accept applications for KR cohort 11 until March 1, 2012.  “Knowledge River educates culturally and linguistically sensitive library and information professionals to serve and represent Latino and Native American cultural communities.  This is a program for students interested in earning their M.A. studying information resources, libraries, archives as well as museums.”

Applicants must be accepted for admission into the University of Arizona’s School of Information Resources and Library Science (SIRLS).  Some of our very own BPLG members have gone through this program and it’s an excellent opportunity to get into the field and focus on your interest in serving the Latino and Native American cultural communities.  You’ll find more information on Knowledge River on their homepage or email Knowledge River directly for details.  Also, head to the University of Arizona’s (SIRLS) site for info on admission requirements.

October 1st Deadline for the Association of Research Libraries’ (ARL) Career Enhancement Program

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

The Association of Research Libraries’ (ARL) Career Enhancement Program (CEP) is accepting applications until October 1st. The ARL CEP is a minority fellowship program that provides program participants with a paid internship in an ARL partner library, leadership development provided through ARL’s annual Leadership Symposium, a formal mentor program, and many other benefits. The total value of the fellowship exceeds $10,000.

Masters of library and information science (MLIS) students from traditionally underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups, who have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credits hours (or will complete 12 credit hours by the scheduled internship) from an ALA accredited MLIS program, and who have an interest in a career in research libraries, are encouraged to apply for this enriching program experience. The CEP is not open to those who have already graduated.
More information about the program, benefits, and the application process can be found on the ARL Site.
