BPLG Meeting, Fundraiser and the Big Read Panel Discussion: Saturday March 24th – San Leandro Public Library

A Saturday event?  Yes, you read it right, so break away from your usual routine and join us for a short meeting, a dinner/fundraiser and the Big Read Panel Discussion at the San Leandro Public library.  Even if you can’t make it for the entire list of events, we’d love to see you for any portion of the day so mark the date and time on your calendar and make plans to join us for a little something different.

The BPLG meeting starts at 4:00, at 5:00 BPLG Members and supporters are invited to participate in a dinner fundraiser (see details below for RSVP information and cost).  Then the Big Read begins at 7:00 so stay for a panel discussion of Sun, Stone and Shadows, a superb collection of some of the finest 20th century Mexican short stories, edited by Jorge Hernández. The panel will be comprised of BPLG members and the discussion will be lead by Jorge Hernández himself.  It looks to be a an interesting evening and a great opportunity for BPLG.

BPLG Fundraiser: A Day at the Races @ Golden Gate Fields-Sunday, June 5th!

BPLG’s Day at the Races is just around the corner.  Thanks to BPLG members and friends who were able to order tickets before the deadline, for this years fundraiser.  There will be friends, food, dancing and oh, yeah horses too.  This Sunday is also:

!Fiesta Hispana! Hispanic Heritage Day at Golden Gate Fields.
There will be activities and live music from 12:30 – 5:00 p.m. with a free concert featuring Banda Tierra del Sol.
Enjoy a dollar day filled with celebration, music and prizes Telemundo 48, 93.3 La Raza, and Golden Gate Fields hosts Hispanic Day at the Races.

Bring your dancing shoes and your best banda moves and enjoy a day out with your fellow BPLG members.  You’ll have a great time and the money raised will benefit the scholarship fund.

Spectrum Scholarship Fundraiser: Redwood City Public Library May 6th

Did I say fundraiser? What I meant was FUN-raiser!! Join APALA and REFORMA Friday May 6th at the Redwood City Public Library for a Spectrum Scholarship Fun-raiser. Bring finger food to share, appetizers or dessert, bring your friends, bring your family, bring FUN and meet new friends. Many BPLG members have benefited from the Spectrum Scholarship and the librarian profession does as well.

RSVP by Sunday, April 24th with name, number of people and type of finger food.  First 20 people who RSVP will receive an additional drink ticket.  Suggested donation $20 (check or cash only) – includes one drink ticket and finger food samples
