<li>The San Jose Public Library System has several positions to fill in the following areas:  <strong>Librarian I/II -Archivist Librarian</strong> for the San Jose History Center, <strong>Librarian I/II Cataloging Librarian</strong>, <strong>Librarian I/II Web Librarian, Librarian I/II </strong>(this involves 2 full-time and 2-3 part-time benefited positions).  The closing date for all positions is <strong>5/29/12</strong>.<strong> </strong>For full details and to apply go to the <a href="http://www.sanjoseca.gov/cityjobs/">City of San Jose Human Resource</a> website.</li>
<li>Contra Costa County Library is seeking applicants for the position of <strong>Senior Community Library Manager</strong>.  There is currently one full-time position available in Concord and 3 other positions in in locations within the system.  The person in this position will be responsible for the day to day administration and operation of a Community Library.  This includes supervision of personnel, development of material collections, development and implementation of a plan of service among other duties.  The list established from this position will remain active for six months.  The final date for applying for this position is <strong>May 25th. </strong>Full details are available on the <a href="http://agency.governmentjobs.com/contracosta/default.cfm">Contra Costa County Job Website</a> .</li>
<li>There is a half-time <strong>Accessioning and Processing Archivist</strong> position open at the University of California, Berkeley Bancroft Library.  This position manages the intake of manuscript collections and supervises the support staff consisting of student assistants and volunteers.  Applications received by <strong>June 1st </strong>will be considered.  Full details on the position including the email address to send applications can be found by clicking <a href="http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/LHRD/trainingPA.html">here</a>.</li>
<li>The City of Daly City is seeking to fill <strong>2 Librarian II positions</strong>.  Branch Manager positions are open at the Westlake Branch Library and also the John Daly Branch Library.  The position includes reference and readers advisory service, supervision, training and evaluation of staff and development and implementation of library programs and services. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.utexas.edu/utpress/books/blachi.html" target="_blank"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1184" style="margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;" title="Chicana Power" src="http://www.bibliotecasparalagente.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Chicana-Power-e1329594691705.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Join the crowd at San José State on March 5th for light refreshments, a book talk and cultura! <a href="http://library.sjsu.edu/events/%C2%A1chicana-power-contested-histories-feminism-chicano-movement-book-signing-and-presentation-ma">Maylei Blackwell</a> Assistant Professor, Department of Chicano/a Studies and Women&#8217;s Studies at UCLA will discuss her book <em>¡Chicana Power! : Contested Histories of Feminism in the Chicano Movement </em>in the Cultural Heritage Center on the 5th floor of the MLK Library on campus<em>. </em>This is the first book-length study of women&#8217;s involvement in the Chicano Movement of the late 1960s and 1970s.   If you were there at the time, and even if you weren&#8217;t, it will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about and discuss the struggles over gender and sexuality within the Chicano Movement.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: left;">The Knowledge River (KR) will accept applications for KR cohort 11 until March 1, 2012.  &#8221;Knowledge River educates culturally and linguistically sensitive library and information professionals to serve and represent Latino and Native American cultural communities.  This is a program for students interested in earning their M.A. studying information resources, libraries, archives as well as museums.&#8221;</p>
