Rita Torres / BPLG Scholarship Recipient: Sandra Aguilar

Saturday, November 13th, 2010

Congratulations to Sandra Aguilar, San Jose SLIS student and the recipient of the Rita Torres/ Bibliotecas Para La Gente Scholarship 2010/2011. Sandra’s application and experience has earned her the BPLG Scholarship and we send out our best to her.

Sandra’s history with libraries started off with tutoring in the homework center, later leading to four years as a Page at the Joyce Ellington, East San José Carnegie and the Hillview branches of the San José Public Library. She was encouraged to pursue a career in libraries by some of our own BPLG members and the rest is history! Sandra currently balances her employment as a Police Data Specialist and her library school studies. She will be at the November 19th BPLG meeting in Novato so come out to meet her, give her your congrats and support her efforts as a library school student.
